Ideas for an 8 year old Rockstar Birthday Party?
So my little girl has come to realize that Rockstars are the cat's meow. Naturally, she wants to have a rock n roll themed birthday party in a couple weeks. I have some good ideas for things to do - Kareoke, a dancing platform and projector/screen thing so they can do silouette dancing, etc- but what games/activities can I do for both girls and boys that will be fun and rockstar themed? I am at a total loss. The kareoke and dancing thing will get boring very quickly.
Keep in mind we are in PHX and it's still like 100+ during the daytime here to outdoor activities are basically out.

You could do a Name-That-Tune type game.
First, find lyrics to songs the kids like. Divide the kids up into two teams. Read aloud one single lyric from a song. The first team to get it right wins a point. A wrong answer will lose the team a point. The first team to get 10 points wins.
You can either alternate between the teams, by reading team 1 the lyric first, then move to team 2 if team 1 doesn't get it. If team 1 does get their lyric correct, read a different lyric to team 2. You can also have them "buzz in" by shaking or blowing a noisemaker of some kind. The first team to blow or shake their noisemakers first can guess the song. The team that wins all gets some big prize, while the losing team can get a smaller prize.
Have the guests come dressed as their favorite singer. This can be fun for everyone, and makes them get more involved. Don't be surprised if you have 10 J-Lo and 5 Eminem look-alikes come to the door though.
For decoration you can take old vinyl records and hang them on the wall using small picture-hanging nails or thumb tacks through the hole in the middle. You can buy records for very cheap at most garage sales, yard sales, thrift stores, or even pawn shops if you're lucky. You can do the same with old CDs as well.
