I was looking on the internet to buy some flea medicine for my cat and I saw these kits, they last for 10 months and you mix the medicine yourself. Has anyone ever used these? If so, would you recommend it?

i have not tried it nor fancy it , i buy the one from vet you just empty small tube on to back of cats neck and it lasts a month well worth it takes ten seconds one a month and i know it is effective and will not harm cats skin and is vet approved , sounds too dogey to me

Avoid The Marriage Proposal Ultimatum - 3 Tips To Preventing This Relationship Killer

When a girl gets it in her head that she's ready to get married it's tough to convince her otherwise. If your girlfriend decides it's time, you're going to have to make a decision - and fast! It doesn't take very long into a relationship for a girl to decide if you're someone she can see herself marrying. Here are three ways you can avoid getting the marriage proposal ultimatum from your girlfriend and propose on your own terms.

1. Discuss Marriage Early & Often

The easiest way to avoid the ultimatum is to discuss marriage. You don't need to talk about it every day, but from time to time you should check in with each other and see where you both stand on the topic. This can be brought up indirectly, too, which will allow you to get the information from her without making it obvious that you're thinking about marriage. The sooner you know what she's thinking, the easier it will be to work around the ultimatum.

2. Don't Let Your Relationship Get Too Comfortable

A relationship where you both begin going through the motions will result in her becoming anxious. Girls want to see progress in a relationship, so try to keep things fresh and exciting. This won't get you out of ever having to consider proposing, but at least she won't get bored waiting. If she sees the relationship moving along, she'll think engagement is coming along and won't mind waiting a little bit extra. Hopefully this will give you enough time to get yourself prepared.

3. Don't Wait Too Long

This might seem like a cop-out, but it's true. Most of the time when an ultimatum comes it's because the guy waited too long. The patience threshold a girl has varies, but you really should be able to sense when it's starting to get thin. You also should know when you're at a point where proposing is the right thing to do. If you're at this level in your relationship, then what are you waiting for? Take advantage of the opportunity to propose to a unsuspecting girlfriend, rather than wait for an ultimatum to force you to do it. Guys like to do things on their own terms, so do it before she makes you.

Proposing is such a special, memorable moment in your relationship. You don't want the black cloud an ultimatum brings hanging over it. Then you're proposal will forever be considered something she forced you into. Instead, beat her to the punch and ask her before. The trick is to pick a moment when you know she's ready and willing and before she gets tired of waiting.

Underneath the fur of your pet feline are fleas, tiny parasites that suck their blood. Most cats found at home are the hosts of these cat fleas although they are also seen to infect other animals like rabbits and dogs. Fleas are a common occurrence in a dog’s or cat’s body although in very few amounts. Make sure that it does not develop into Flea Allergy Dermatitis which is a precursor of more serious problems with regards to the skin. An increase in the number of fleas however may lead to a severe loss of blood, causing the host to be anemic. Fleas are also notorious for being carriers for several other parasites such as tapeworm and other organisms.

What are the signs to check if your pet cat has a flea infection? First and most obvious sign is frequent biting and scratching of their fur as if something is irritating them. Since cats normally scratch their fur, it is also vital that you actually take a closer look at your cat’s skin to check for the presence of dark brown crawling insects. It would be quite hard to see if your cat has dark fur so it is also suggested to inspect their beddings as well.

Whenever cats are scratching their fur, these pesky fleas fall off. Another way of checking of the presence of these blood sucking-insects is to rub the fur lightly while they are standing on a big sheet of white paper. Apply a demister afterwards. The presence of dark brown marks with red stains on the paper is a positive indicator of the existence of fleas on your feline.

Removing the fleas from your cat is not quite easy to do since they are found to react quite sensitively to chemicals. There are some products available on the market to help eradicate this problem and leave you feline flea free.

A flea collar is the most common form of a cat flea removal product. Poison is found on these collars in enough quantities to kill those adult fleas on and in the vicinity of the neck and head region. However, the fleas existing on the lower part of the body are not affected.

Another product is the flea shampoo that contains chemicals that can exterminate the fleas. Extreme care must be used to avoid irritating the skin of the cat and causing them much discomfort.

A chemical free technique to get rid of these cat fleas, especially the adult ones is by using a flea comb. Be prepared with a bowl of water with a bit of detergent mixed into it to put the gathered fleas in to drown. Putting a dollop of petroleum jelly on the flea comb can help catch the fleas by letting them stick on the comb easily.

Flea powders may also be utilized but not frequently to avoid drying and irritating the fur and skin of your pet feline.

Oral medicines may be mixed with their food which will be taken up into the blood. When the fleas feed on the blood, it will act by preventing the maturation of their eggs. This method is best used in combination with another method that effectively kills the adult cat flea.

Application of topical creams and ointments may also be effective, depending on brand and the degree of flea infestation. It is usually applied once every month until the cat is free of fleas.

For a successful management of these cat fleas, the area where the cat usually stays is treated as well. These fleas frequently hide in carpets, curtains, beds, and anywhere conducive to its existence. For a total eradication of these cat fleas, it is a highly suggested to have the whole house cleaned and treated from top to bottom, indoors and outdoors. Other pets are also included in the flea free program.

Lastly, it is always recommended to consult with your neighborhood veterinarian first before using any flea removing product to make sure that both you and your feline is safe and on his way to becoming flea free.

Dog flea shampoo on a cat??

I accidentally grabbed the dog shampoo instead of the cat shampoo. When I realized the mistake, I washed it off her but she was already fully lathered. What will happen and what can I do?

Dog products tend to be stronger than cat products, as cats are more sensitive to pesticides. A good thorough rinsing as soon as possible is the best thing to do, and it sounds like you already did that. Probably nothing will happen, but things to watch for are dry red skin and itchiness, or things like tremors, seizures, drooling, twitching if the cat is overly sensitive to pesticides. If you see anything like a seizure or tremors, then get to a vet ASAP. A skin reaction can wait till normal office hours. Keep an eye on her just in case, if anything is going to happen it will happen within a day.

What should I do with my cats after flea treatment?

I have fleas in my house and on my cats. I went to the vet and got the advantage drops for the cats. I have also sprayed my house, used a flea fogger, and have been vacuuming everything and cleaning the crap outta my house. Since both cats and the house have been treated should I continue to keep my cats quarantined in the bathroom or should I let them out. I'm thinking it's probably ok to let them out now since the pesticide has had time to settle. Also, I think the advantage stuff on the cats is supposed to kill any fleas that jump on. I'm thinking it's a good idea to let the cats run around so the remaining fleas that continue to hatch will jump on the cats and die. Advise?
