How long is normal after being spayed for my 1 yr old cat to refuse food?
My cat was perfectly healthy before being spayed at a low cost animal rescue center. Since her surgery, she has been to the emergency vet because she was running a fever, refusing food or water, coughing/sneezing, and vomiting. She had to be given subcutaneous fluids at the vet. Her surgery was Tuesday, I picked her up Wednesday Morning. She ate a tiny bit and took a little water on Wednesday. She was at the vet last night and put on antibiotics. Should I be concerned that she is still refusing any type of food (including her favorite treats and milk) or water? She is urinating still, but only about once a day. She is sleeping most of the day and night and still coughing. Is this somewhat normal? I have only had male cats before and my last cat didn't have any problems after his neuter/front declaw. Should I be looking at taking her back to the vet or wait?
All surgery has risks. Sometimes, the tube they put down their throat, to aid in breathing while they are out can introduce an infection into the lungs. The same holds true for humans as well.
A speedy recovery is normal, as this is why you pick them up either the same day or a day later after being fixed. Some cats just don't tolerate the anesthesia as well as others, and while rare, complications can arise.
As long as you are keeping in touch with your vet, and she is getting proper medication(s), then she will most likely snap out of it in a few more days. The antibiotics should get her back on the road to recovery.
Emergency dog food question?
My debit card isn't working. I think the network is down because my friend who has an account at the same credit union can't use her card either. Anyways, the dog food was finished up this morning and I don't have any left.
We are having spaghetti with butter and green beans. My dogs are very hungry now. Can I give them some plain spaghetti mixed with a little green beans and a dash of dry cat food? (as you can tell, the cat is the only one living large tonight!)
The question: is it better to make them wait for food until tomorrow or give them what? If they wait, it will approx. 24 hrs between meals. I know waiting won't have lasting effects but definitely sucks.
It'll be 24 hrs between breakfast today and breakfast tomorrow. If my debit card won't work tomorrow, I'm going to drive to my mom's or sister's to eat and get $ for dog food. (payday today, no access, broke from Christmas).
I give my dog green beans all the time and she loves them. She also gets into the cat food. Neither of those have caused her any issues. Pasta is basically just flour, so no harm there either I would think. As long as it's plain (without any sauce that might contain onions or garlic), your pups should be fine.
Go ahead and feed the poor guys - they'll be fine.

Problem is, I'm completely broke. Any ideas as to how i could make a collar, with a name, phone, etc. that would be waterproof??
